CABINET APPROVES 15TH FINANCE COMMISSION The Union Cabinet approved the setting up of the 15th Finance Commission which will assess the tax resources of the nation and suggest a formula for their devolution among states. The Commission will submit its recommendations before April 1, 2020 to cover five years from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2025. As per Article 280 of the Constitution, the Commission is required to make recommendations on the distribution of the net proceeds of taxes between the Centre and the States. INDIA NEXT TO CHINA IN FISHING India has become the second largest fish producing country (China being first) world, accounting for about 11.41 million tonnes of fish catch in 2016-17. As a result of the scheme 'Blue Revolution', overall fish production has registered an increase of about 18.86% in comparison to the last three years, while inland fish production has registered a growth of more than 26%.
